The BLT, the Sub, PB&J…

SANDWICHES have always gotten such a good rap. Even a cheese sandwich takes the …bread(?). There’s one kind of sandwich which is not as heavily desired but becoming more and more common. It’s the Sandwich Generation (…the Club Sandwich, the Open-Faced Sandwich). With the growing number of Prime Time Parents (parenting after 35+) there’s a rise in members of this “Sandwich Generation”. What is the Sandwich Generation? Often referred to as the generation caught between two others, The Sandwich Generation is the group of people caring for children as well as their aging parents. There are various factors that contribute to the growth of the Sandwich Generation. The first we mentioned was women having children later in life. Another, the older generations are living longer. Statistics are showing that over 80 year olds are the fastest growing population. That means there are more elder folks to take care of, for an extended period of time. This can put the squeeze on the caregiver who must spend their resources (money, time, energy) on both their children and parents. This pressure leads to health problems for the caregivers themselves. The Christian Companion Senior Care and Presto Services Inc. commissioned a study that found that “Sandwichers”… 53% feel forced to choose between caring for their children or caring for their parents at least once a week. 20% feel they must choose to care for one or the other EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK. 40% believe that their parents did a better job of balancing multi-generational caregiving than they do. Are you a caregiver? Are you a Sandwich Generation caregiver? Perhaps you’re stuggling with some of the pressures, stress and responsibilities of being a Sandwich Generation caregiver. Please join PrimeTimeRadiance for our Sandwich Generation Twitter Party on Sunday August 14, 2011, 9:30pm-10:30pm ET. Use hashtag #SWgen to participate, share, learn and possibly even vent. Got Kids? Get Dr. Andie’s New Book

Whether you are a parent, caregiver, babysitter, or teacher, loving kids is easy. They are cute, clever, clumsy, and cuddly. They make adorable pictures with crayons and take pride in their train collections. Have you ever thought about how kids feel about themselves? They know we love them, but do they know what love is? They show us their creations and ask us what we think. Do we ever bother to ask them what they think about their creations?

How our kids learn to love themselves and how we the caregivers, parents, aunties, uncles and grandparents can help nurture that love is vital. How can we do this in our forever changing, instant messaging, and virtual playspace focused world?

Wonderful Giveaways…

Join us for an online discussion with Dr. Andie, Andrea Goodman Weiner, Ed.D. Her newest book More Than Saying I LOVE YOU: 4 Powerful Steps That Help Children Love Themselves. Dr. Andie will be giving away 2 signed copies of her new book, “More Than I Saying I Love You”, and (2) $25 gift cards to Starbucks.

That is not all. With camp season is in full swing and “soon” back to school shopping. You can’t label your kids, but you can keep your kids’ possessions labeled.  From books to an extra change of clothes, our friends at http://www.label-land.com/ are giving away label-land prizes to (2) winners this Sunday night.

Top Things for Families with Small Children to do on Memorial Day

-picnic
-BBQ with family
-birthday parties
-family reunions
-potty training boot camp
-visit elderly in their assisted living
-travel to the beach
-go shopping
-clean out the garage or basement (hope not!)

Not all easy to do with kids in tow….Why not put FUN for you & them on the agenda?

Follow the YellowBrk app. We are all leaders, but sometimes it is GREAT to know you can follow somebody with your same interests at heart.

The party is this Sunday night,1 week before Memorial Day. We, as the thoughtful parents we are, are thinking about the long weekend. We have a day off (hopefully). Now, what to do with the kids?

Parents haven’t had a chance while busy working, taking care of a family and a home (add on to that little or no sleep) to study the calendar. Now Memorial day weekend is wide open with no kid-friendly plans.

YellowBrck…when downloaded for FREE, can provide things to do that their friends would be doing. How? It is targeted towards parents within their location and needs. So, login and see where things are happening, and find out where you can save money.

Still not picnic ready, check out what brands have partnered with YellowBrk to bring you savings on food, baby gear, and coffee!!

We are all leaders, but sometimes it is nice to know there’s a trustworthy leader like YellowBrk to follow.

YellowBrk, the 4Square for parents like you… in more ways than 1.

What would a twitter party without some great prizes for our participants!

During the party 2 attendees will win a (1) $50 gift certificate to either Ecomom.com or Abesmarket.com.
